Tobramycin Nasal Spray
Tobramycin Nasal Spray is used to treat people with a genetic condition (cystic fibrosis) who have a persistent lung infection caused by a specific bacteria (Pseudomonas aeruginosa). Cystic fibrosis patients produce thick, sticky mucus that can clog the lungs’ tubes, ducts, and passageways. This can lead to serious breathing problems and lung infections. Tobramycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic, which is a type of antibiotic. Tobramycin inhalation solution works by inhibiting the growth of a specific bacteria (Pseudomonas aeruginosa), which commonly infects the lungs of cystic fibrosis patients. This effect reduces lung infections and damage while also aiding in breathing.
How to Use Tobramycin Nasal Spray With a Nebulizer 300 Mg/5 Ml Nebulization Solution
Before you begin using this medication, and each time you get a refill, read the Patient Information Leaflet provided by your pharmacist. This medication is used in conjunction with a nebulizer, which converts the solution into a fine mist that you inhale. Learn and follow all of the directions for using this medication and the nebulizer. An adult may be required to assist children in using this medication properly. Ask your doctor, pharmacist, or respiratory therapist if you have any questions.
Use this medication in conjunction with the nebulizer every 12 hours or as directed by your doctor. Each treatment lasts approximately 15 minutes. This medication is usually taken for 28 days in a row, followed by 28 days off, and the cycle is repeated until your doctor tells you to stop.
Tobramycin ampules are intended for single use only. Before using an ampule, inspect it. The standard solution is slightly yellow and will darken with age. If the solution is cloudy or contains particles, or if it has expired or has been stored at room temperature for more than 28 days, discard the ampule. For each dose, use the entire contents of the ampule. Tobramycin should not be combined with any other medications in the nebulizer.
Use this antibiotic at evenly spaced intervals for the best results. Use this medication at the same time(s) every day to help you remember.
Even if your symptoms go away after a few days, keep taking this medication until the full prescribed amount is gone. Stopping the medication too soon may result in the infection reappearing.
If your condition does not improve or worsens, notify your doctor.
